Yesterday was John McCain's 72nd birthday. If elected, he'd be the oldest president ever inaugurated. And after months of slamming Barack Obama for "inexperience," here's who John McCain has chosen to be one heartbeat away from the presidency:
Who is Sarah Palin? Here's some basic background:
She was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.
Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.
She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000.
Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.
She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.
She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.
How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.

Quote of the Week
Quoted from the late comedian and my personal favorite Mitch Hedberg. "I ordered a chicken sandwich but I think the waitress mis-understood me because she said, "How would you like your eggs?" So I tried to answer her anyhow. I said "Incubated, and then raised, and then beheaded, and then plucked and then cut up then put onto a grill then put onto a bun. Shit, it's gonna take awhile. I don't have time, scrambled!"

Quote Of The Week
"Mr. Donaghy's ability to accurately referee games has no connection to his compulsive gambling condition," he said. "It is very common for the employers of pathological gamblers to never notice a decrease in job performance."
- Stephen Block, a longtime New York-based gambling treatment counselor.
Did the gambling treatment counselor take into consideration that the compulsive gambling condition was being applied to games that Mr. Donaghy was refereeing?

March Madness
It’s that time of year again. March can only mean one thing, March Madness! I want to know who is going to be this years champion? Who is going to be this years Cinderella? Which team will be upset first? Which underdog will go the furthest?
My cinderella’s are: Purdue, Butler, and Davidson.
The biggest upsets will be: Washington St over N Carolina, Butler over Tennessee, Davidson over Georgetown, Purdue over Duke and UCLA, and Villanova over Clemson
My final four is Butler, Kansas, Stanford and Purdue with Kansas and Stanford in the finals
Kansas will defeat Stanford in the championship game 64-57

I look to get my rocks off at Craigslist.com
Crime rates for the year 2006: 17,034 Murders, 92,455 Rapes, 447,403 Robbery’s, 862,947 Aggravated Assaults, 2,183,746 Burglary’s and so on. (http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/uscrime.htm) What are police officer’s doing to prevent these types of crimes? Pretending to be prostitutes on Craigslist.com and arresting all who show at a designated area. 27 people were arrested on prostitution charges in Louisville after a sting operation. I guess as long as we get all those violent criminals who are trying to get a quickie. Is it such a crime to have sex? I understand prostitution is the act of engaging in a sex act for money. It is also illegal for a person to be solicitating sex, or ask another to engage in a sex act for money. Therefore, it is illegal for a person to offer to have sex with another for money and it is illegal for a person to accept the offer of another to have sex for money. So how is it legal for police officers to solicit sex? Is this not entrapment? The sad thing is, if you could solicit sex to police officers half of the force would probably take the offer. It’s well known that a high percentage of police officers have affairs. Too bad adultery is not illegal.
So the next time you are feeling kind of lonely, need to get a little lovin’, don’t go to Craigslist.com. You might just get thrown in jail and then it’s your ass that is in trouble, literally.

Sadly, Kelvin Sampson Is Not Bobby Knight
I have read many articles that have been written about Kelvin Sampson's fate with Indiana University. Everyone that thinks he should be fired without delay. To all those that fall under this category, I say don’t get your panties all in a bunch. Shouldn't we wait until due process? Let’s not forget what happened to Ohio State with the Jim O’Brien situation. Mr. O’Brien filed a wrongful termination suit against the university. He went on to win the suit and the university was ordered to pay 2.2 million in lost wages and benefits. I think IU will be weary to get themselves even remotely close to the same situation. I understand he has been under scrutiny because of violations previously at Oklahoma. IU hired Sampson while under that spotlight. They knew then what they were getting in to before the allegations over the current infractions. If he is fired, then it will be because of the pressure brought on by the public, the news, and the papers.
I must chuckle when I see the comparisons made between the firing of Bobby Knight and Coach Sampson’s situation. All those that say Sampson needs to be fired because Knight was fired, are wrong. Knight had time and time again been under scrutiny for not being able to control his temper. He was under a zero tolerance policy before the final stone fell into place. Throwing chairs, slapping and choking players among many other things accused of over the period of 29 years as IU’s coach. He also won three national titles, eleven big ten titles and had one undefeated season in that period which allowed him and others to look over the flaws. Coach Sampson only has one year under his belt. In that time, he has led the team to a 21-4 record with a 10-2 conference record. (11-1 if you take the badger out of Brian Butch’s ass) He has recruited, illegally or not, one of the top players in the country and the top junior college player in the country. His players play hard for him, respect him, and their heart is irrefutable. With all the solid teams in the country, and the controversy surrounding the team, I will be surprised if Indiana University doesn’t capture their sixth national championship if Kelvin Sampson remains the coach and barring injury.
I also have to wonder why the NCAA is pursuing Indiana and Kelvin Sampson to such a degree, even with IU taking action against Sampson? You know he is not the only coach in college sports that has made illegal phone calls to recruits. He is undeniably not the only coach that has given “perks” to players if the allegations are true. Why not the quick and stern action taken against USC and Reggie Bush? I have to ask, does it have anything to do with Myles Brand, the former President of Indiana University and now the President of the NCAA? Don’t get me wrong, Brand in his short eight year tenure as President at IU accomplished much, but is he bitter that his tenure will mostly be remembered for his firing of Bobby Knight? I think he also took offense to the student body rioting on his front lawn and burning “Myles Brand look-alikes” in the form of stuffed dolls. I know only because I was there.
Kelvin Sampson probably will be fired. People will say, “It is no one’s fault but his own”, and their probably right. But just to be fair, the odds were against Kelvin Sampson the day he stepped foot on the campus of Indiana University. He doesn’t have three national titles or eleven big ten titles for people to salivate over. But what people need to realize, the era of “The General” is over. He will never again coach at Indiana University, and there will never be another Bobby Knight. So to keep things basic, get over it.

Electronic Arts NBA Live 08 or Electronic Arts Fourth Grade Live 08?
You call NBA Live 08 a realistic attempt at portraying NBA basketball? I am sickened by the quality of play that Electronic Arts puts out in their sports games. I remember when I bought NBA Live 98 and was pleased with the game by all standards compared to games of the day. With the advancements that consoles have made and the quality of game play has increased with demand, EA Sports is still putting out, well, crap. NBA Live 08 and NBA Live 98 have more similarities in game play than not. I feel like I am playing the exact same game, with updated players and stats. As for calling it an NBA basketball game? I feel like I am watching a fourth grade basketball game. You know the kind where the ball is thrown to the opposite team, and kids are missing lay-ups consistently, and there is no defense. They should honestly just call the game Fourth Grade Live 08 (with dunks and NBA player’s names on jerseys) and it would be much more of an accurate game according to game play.
Its almost as if EA Sports intentionally wants the game to be bad. Like they create a game that is somewhat realistic, then they sit around and ask each other, “What can we do to make it unrealistic?” While playing the game, I ponder to myself how EA Sports is still in business. How they are selling thousands of copies of this game that they release every year, and the game play has not improved much, if any. I don’t quite fathom how reviews on the game could possibly be good. Or during the testing phase of the game, how they do not catch all the glitches, flaws and blemishes of the game. I sometimes wonder if the actual designers and coders of the game have actually seen an NBA basketball game, or if they are just nerds who never get out of their cubicle.
I am going to list a few flaws, glitches, double standards, and inconsistencies in game play briefly below: (in no specific order)
Passing the ball is poor at best. I press the back arrow to pass it to the wide open guy standing at the three point line, and my guy throws a bounce pass across court to a player being defended which is then picked off.
The double standard versus you and the computer is so sad it’s funny. At first I used to get mad, but it’s to the point now that I just smirk when something happens. Like every game I play the fouls are about a 7:1 ratio against me. If you have a big lead the game will make you miss lay-ups, wide open shots, make you turn the ball over, while the computer is hitting shots four feet behind the three point line fading away, while being perfectly defended by two players. I refer to it as the “NBA Jam Factor.” You know in NBA Jam when you couldn’t pull away from a team because they would just steal the ball and run down the court and dunk it. It was always a close game at the end, with the computer drilling a last second shot to win. Almost like the game would actually have its feelings hurt if it were to lose.
The other team can still pass the ball through your body. I wish I could have pulled this one off back in my high school days. I would have been invincible with 0 turnovers instead of 8 every game. Maybe one day I will learn this trick, and pass the ball through external body parts of other human beings.
The computer can step out of bounds, and yet it doesn’t get called. I would think in the code there would be a predefined “if” statement stating that if the players steps or dribbles out of bounds, then return turnover. They must have forgot how to do “if” statements anymore.
Going up for rebounds is like telling a paraplegic to go catch a pop up. I can jump directly under the ball and in one frame the ball is heading towards my hands, and then in the next frame the 5’10” Nate Robinson behind me ends up with the ball out rebounding my 7’6” Yao Ming. Side Note: If you happen to create players and make three guys 7’6” which is the tallest you can make them, and go up for a rebound, the 5’10” can still rebound the ball over all three of your 7’6” men.
When are they ever going to have side announcers that don’t repeat themselves three times a game? Can they honestly not think of anymore one-liners, stats, or funny phrases than the six they already have? Reminds me of Maddens unprecedented line, “Tell your team to play hard here, tell your team to play hard every play.” It’s like a monkey with a mallet beating a gong over and over again in my ear.
I only wish that NBA was this bad. That way, not only would EA Sports be correct on their terrible game play, but I would be a millionaire because I would be the best NBA basketball player ever. The saddest thing about this whole article is that not only did I waste my time playing the game, but I wasted time explaining why the game sucks. Sadder yet, wait until I bitch about the game play of Electronic Arts other sports games.
When will the fallout from releasing poor games finally take effect? When will people start to realize that the quality of their games is about as good as Burger Time released for Nintendo, and stop buying them? Or better yet, another company gets the rights to the names of players, and creates and releases a better game, it wouldn’t take much. All in all, if I were giving EA Sports a review for NBA Live 08, I would give them a 1.5 out of 10. And that’s only because they make the only NBA game for PC’s. Otherwise they would probably receive a .5 out of 10.
